First Grade falls short of finals
Date of Event : Tue Mar 7, 2017 9:41PM

Going into the final round of the year, the 1s needed a outright victory in order to have a chance finishing in the top four.

Eastlake v ANU: 25 February and 4 March, report by Michael Spaseski

We won the toss and chose to bowl chasing the outright and did well to bowl ANU out for a below par 121 with Nick Wood taking 4/23 with the new ball!

Our chase began well and we declared for a quickly made total of 5/155 a small 30 run lead going into the second innings. Paul O'Malveney making 43 along with Tom Henry 23.

The second week unfortunately was very wet and resulted in losing a session of play which made chasing the outright victory even harder.

We bowled them out for 165 and required 132 off 10 overs which proved to be too much as we fell 50 runs short of the target, registering a first innings win and finishing the year in 5th spot.
